(Today, the Bible & You, 8.99) In June 24, 1999 leaders of an initiative to set up a united body of the world's religions.. claim that their campaign is gaining momentum. The Christian clergyman spearheading the "United Religions Initiative," California-based Episcopal Anglican Bishop William Swing, said the religion lagged at least half-a-century behind in establishing international forums to resolve conflicts between faiths [Comment: bishop Swing must be sound asleep]. As nations have gotten together for the past 50 years to pursue global good, during the same 50 years religions have not sat down to figure out what their common vocation it," he told ENI during a visit to Jerusalem during which he, along with the Tibetan Buddhist leader, Dalai Lama, attended an inter-faith conference. The problems, among religions, and in religions, are everyday problems, and they are not going to be solved, or addressed or helped, until we finally have some kind of "United Religions," that will parallel the United Nations, so that we can carry out negotiations." HIS GOAL IS TO SET UP THE WORLD BODY OF RELIGIONS BY JUNE 2000, AND HE REMAINS HOPEFUL OF MEETING THE DEADLINE, with God's help. The initiative also has the support of the Dalai Lama, whose visit to Jerusalem was sponsored by Bishop Swing's Inter-Religious Friendship Group and the Inter-Religious Coordinating Council of Israel.

Newsletter 8.99 - Question: "Could you address this [enclosed
audio tape] sometime in the near future in your newsletter? Several
[in my congregation] have been attending The Prophecy Club and
listening to this [and other] tapes and are planning to move out
of the United States shortly. One family is selling their business,
home and everything they possess and heading for Belize."
Answer: I listened in dismay to the tape you sent by Tom Van Asperen,
who heads "4th Angel Seminars" out of Paradise, CA.
He sounds like another Joseph Smith, Mary Baker Eddy, Jim Jones
or Kim Miller.. Van Asperen has been a frequent speaker at The
Prophecy Club, which holds seminars across the country and features
some of the most popular extremists. In a phone inquiry to The
Prophecy Club we were told that they had received many complaints
about Van Asperen and no longer offered his tapes. As for said
removal, on the same day (May 5, 1999), the Prophecy Club website
was still offering Van Asperen's tapes along with many others
[Ed: he is still being sold on their website as of July 23, 1999).
Under the heading, "THE PROPHECY CLUB VIDEOS," the following
was included. BIBLE PROPHECY DECODED:.. Tom says that the messages
of Dumitru Duduman line up perfectly in this decoded scripture.
This is a must for the serious Bible student. Four 21/2 hour video
tapes $100." [Ed: the prophecies of Dumitru Duduman never
came to pass] "Tom says the Code Language says there is no
rapture.. Many of the other audio and videotapes listed on the
website, judging by their descriptions, are just as extreme. This
is our first exposure to the Prophecy Club and it doesn't look
good."
An interesting fact is that TBN does not list itself as an evangelism ministry but as a nonprofit organization under the arts and culture. Consequently we have done them wrong by considering them to be a Christian ministry when in fact they are a worldly organization. Trinity Broadcasting Network is a network of film companies divided into a number of locations including New York, Denver and so on. They have of course millions in assets and contributions to their "cultural" cause. They are changing the Christian mainstream into the new culture we are becoming where anything goes and to lament about it is rapidly becoming illegal. Even powerful Reverend Jesse Jackson backed off when he was threatened with a lawsuit. He knew he wouldn't have prayer today. What was possible with Dr. Martin Luther King is not legally possible today. Our rights have been eroded.
The following graphic of the POWER TEAM is some of the fruit of TBN and confirms the mixed message. The cross and the pentagram side by side. (Excuse the graphic but my flatbed scanner is out and I'm using a Kodak Snapshot till I get time to correct the problem)

(The Grand Rapids Press, 7.31.99) Headline: Religious freedom
protects us all, even the little fish. Wiccan Jean Webb sued the
city of Republic, MO., because its official seal contains a fish,
an ancient Christian sign for Christ. As a Wiccan, .. Web said
the symbol suggested intolerance of non-Christians and blurred
the separation of church and state. A federal judge recently agreed
with Webb, who suffered harassment after her suit and no longer
lives in Republic. The judge said the symbol violates the U.S.
Constitution's ban on government establishment of religion and
ordered the seal removed from city vehicles, signs and stationery.
(The Inner Circle July 1999) ".. In an article published
in a 1940 issue of Church History entitled "Evolution of
Mormon Doctrine," one writer, George Arbaugh, argued that
initially Mormon doctrine was Unitarian. He speculated that Reverend
Solomon Spaulding was a Unitarian who wrote an Indian story containing
Unitarian doctrine that Sidney Rigdon revised it, and that Joseph
Smith published it as the Book of Mormon. (Sunstone, 10:1, p.26)
Hale immediately avows that "the assertion that the Book
of Mormon teaches Unitarian doctrine seem highly unlikely."
He adds that Mormonism "certainly does not accept Unitarian
doctrine today, nor does it appear ever to have done so."
If not Unitarian, then what term best described the Mormon doctrine
of God? Hale refers to the term "Binitarian" which was
coined in 1890 to refer to the belief that there are two persons
in the Godhead.
While the term clearly does not describe Mormon doctrine since
the 1840s, there is one important doctrinal statement, which does
appear to have a strong Binitarian emphasis. "The lectures
on Faith" which appeared in all editions of the Doctrine
and Covenant from 1835 to 1921, state that "there are two
personages who constitute the great, matchless, governing and
supreme power over all things.. They are the Father and the Son.."
Elsewhere it instructs, "How many persons are there in the
Godhead? Two: the Father and the Son." The lecture goes on
to teach that these two personages possess the same mind, "which
mind is the Holy Spirit.. and these constitute the Godhead and
are one." This lecture does not present the Holy Ghost as
a spirit being, a doctrine clearly taught a few years later. (Sunstone,
10:1, p.26)
James E. Talmage may be Trinitarian? Following a lengthy discussion
of classic Trinitarianism, Hale then questions whether Mormon
doctrine has ever been Trinitarian. "A number of Mormon writers
have the word trinity to define the Mormon doctrine of the Godhead,
even such men as Apostle James E. Talmage in his 1890 work, The
Articles of Faith (p.39), and Apostle Richard L. Evans in 1952
in an article he wrote on Mormonism for the book Religions in
America (p.131). Nevertheless, such usage clearly exhibit a redefinition
of the term trinity, whose technical denotation does not apply
to Mormonism at all.
Some have claimed that the Book of Mormon and early revelations
suggest that Mormon doctrine started out Trinitarian. However,
this also must be rejected since these early Mormon writers so
emphasize the oneness of the Father and the Son as to declare
"that the Son is the Father, and the Father is the Son"
(JST, Luke 10:23, cf. Mosiah 15; 16:15; Alma 11:38,39; Ether 4:12;
3:14.) Clearly Mormon doctrine has never been Trinitarian. (Sunstone,
10:1,p.27)
How about polytheism? If the Mormon doctrine of God is not Unitarian,
nor Binitarian, not Trinitarian, then what term best describes
it? Some have noted that the Book of Mormon is, in fact modalistic.
Modalism teaches that the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are not
three persons or distinctions, but rather three modes of divine
action of the one God. Thus, Modalism can be considered to be
a form of Unitarianism. Loosely stated, Modalism says that God
appeared in the Old Testament as the Father, in the New Testament
as the Son, and now appears as the Holy Ghost. Such a concept
is clearly foreign to historic Christianity, although a few groups
- most notably the United Pentecostals - do have a modalistic
view of God.
However, modern Mormonism, with its clear emphasis upon the Father,
Son and Holy Ghost as three separate personages, is best described
as polytheistic - the belief in many gods. Add to this concept
the distinctly Mormon doctrine of exaltation - the belief that
men can become gods themselves - then it becomes quite clear that
Mormons are polytheistic.
But were Mormons ever Modalists (i.e., Unitarian)? Van Hale concludes,
"While this modalistic concept of oneness is foreign to current
Mormon doctrine, there is a striking resemblance between the teachings
of several early Modalists and some statements in the Book of
Mormon." (Sunstone, 10:1, p.27).
(O Timothy, Vol. 16, No.6) Mormons were invited to participate
in the ecumenical March for Jesus this year in Salt Lake City,
Utah. On the day of the March, local organizer Maggy Fletcher
says, "Over a dozen churches of various denominations are
directly involved with the march, but many more have shown interest
in coming.. Lutherans, Catholics, Methodists.. Nondenominational
[churches] and Latter-day Saints." The national coordinator
of March for Jesus, Tom Pelton, echoed "its time to move
beyond church walls to connect with one another and the community."
[The Berean Call: apparently it's not important whether those
participants in these unity marches believe in the same Jesus!]
(Salt Lake City Tribune 5.19.99) "..Item No. 136242381, "Mormon
Temple Recommend," initially was listed for sale on eBay
last Thursday. The credit card-sized permit, required for entry
to Mormon temples, was pitched as "perfect copy" with
a suggested opening bid of $20.
The item drew only a handful of bids, initially ranging from $1
to $51, before eBay user identified only as "Good Mormon"
bid $10,000, apparently to keep the recommend out of the hands
of nonbelievers. Kevin Pursglove, senior director for communications
at eBay, said the recommend was removed, without a sales transaction
being completed, on Sunday after several hundred e-mails demanding
a background check on the seller flooded corporate offices in
San Jose, California... His or her contact information was incorrect...
In communications the company received it pointed out that the
temple recommends bear language that the cards themselves are
the property of the LDS Church. [Comment: I couldn't believe that
not even that piece of paper belongs to the members who paid 10%
plus of the gross income to get their temple recommends].
(Ibid.) A company to Run Mormon Firms' Online Operations. Mormon
church-owned businesses and institutions would join together and
form a new company to enter the Internet. Deseret Management Corp.,
the holding company for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints' commercial entities, formally announced the start of its
new World Media Inc. subsidiary Thursday. The new company will
oversee the electronic activities that were part of Bookcraft
Inc. operations acquired by Deseret Management last month. That
purchase brought Bookcraft and the other major publisher of LDS-themed
materials, Deseret Book, under one roof.
World Media also will coordinate many of the Internet-related
activities of DMC companies such as Deseret Books, the Deseret
News, Beneficial Life Insurance Co. and Bonneville International
Corp., along with Brigham Young University and other church-related
entities, said Rodney Brady, the corporation's president and chief
executive. [Comment, no wonder they are not listed in 990 Tax
disclosure]

(The Tampa Tribune 8.16.99) In his southern ISLAMIC republic, the President Ruslan S. Aushev signed a decree last month legalizing polygamy - that would be multiple wives, not husbands. Russian leaders expressed their indignation but have not taken any action to overturn the law. Russia's Constitution prohibits polygamy, but the criminal code does not provide for any penalty.
(Today, the Bible & You, 6.99) Prozac was used by at least
two of the groups who carried out the school shootings. There
was an article written by Maureen Sileaf of the Vigo Examiner
entitled, "Prozac Implicated in Oregon Shooting," where
she makes this startling statement, "This particular drug
has factored in almost all wild shooting sprees which have taken
place in the last ten years." (Mauree@vigo-examiner.com)
In the New Age book "Behold a Pale Horse", the author
talks about links between Prozac and the public killings. Note
this book was written in 1991, before public school shootings.
New Age author Bill Cooper has this to say: "In every instance
that I have investigated - the incident at the women's school
in Canada, the shopping center in Canada, the Stockton, California,
massacre, and the murder of Rabbi Meir Kahane - the shooters were
all ex-mental patients or were current mental patients who were
all on the drug Prozac. This drug, taken in certain doses, increases
the serotonin level in the patient, causing extreme violence.
Couple that with a posthypnotic suggestion or control, and you
get mass murder." (p.225)
In another article, we learn that Prozac acts in the body and
mind very much like cocaine! ["Doping our kids with Prescription
drugs at the root of violence, says expert," by David M.
Bresnahan, 1999 WorldNetDaily.com]
(The Liberator - May/ June 99) Five of the nine shooters since
1996 were either depressed or taking powerful psychiatric drugs
such as Ritalin and either Prozac or the Prozac-like drug Luvox.

(The Liberator - May/ June 99) Kids do not become gay or bisexual
because "God made them that way." They are recruited.
Contrary to the media lie, there is no hard evidence that people
are born gay.

(Prophecy in the News April 1999) stated that there are reports
that President William Jefferson Clinton plans to step up - to
become Secretary- General of the United Nations when his term
of office is over.
The President's Laws and Executive Orders are international. They
even empower the United Nations over citizens of the United States.
On October 27, 1998 the President signed into law H.R. 2431, the
"INTERNATIONAL RELIGIOUS FREEDOM ACT OF 1998." It states
that "religious freedom is a central element of U.S. foreign
policy. Indeed, this Act will serve to promote the religious freedom
of people of all backgrounds, whether Muslim, Christian, Jewish,
Buddhist, Hindu, Taoist, or any other faith.
On December 10, 1998 the President signed Executive Order 13107
"Implementation of Human Right Treaty." "By the
authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the
laws of the United States of America, AND BEARING IN MIND THE
OBLIGATIONS OF THE UNITED STATES PURSUANT TO THE INTERNATIONAL
COVENANT ON CIVIL AND POLITICAL RIGHTS (ICCPR), the Convention
Against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment
or Punishment (CAT), the Convention on the Elimination of All
Forms of Racial Discrimination (CERD), and other relevant treaties
concerned with the protection and promotion of human rights to
WHICH THE UNITED STATES IS NOW AND MAY BECOME A PARTY OF IN THE
FUTURE, it is hereby ordered as follows: He describes an Interagency
Working Group which is to be established and how it is to function.
The next question is: "what is the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights?" That answer can be found by examining the treaties at the United Nations. What is great about Internet, one can go personally check the sites and find the answers.
(Email research group - 7.9.99) "Executive Order Defines
Witnessing a Hate Crime. President Clinton recently signed Executive
Order 13107, Implementation of Human Rights Treaties. The new
EO requires federal, state and local governments to comply immediately
with all United Nations Treaties, whether or not those treaties
have been confirmed by the U.S. Senate as required by the Constitution.
One of these treaties, the UN Treaty of Genocide, says that persuading
someone to change his or her religion is a hate crime punishable
by international law. The new EO 13107 is expected to be used
strongly by the newly established Office of Religious Persecution
Monitoring to arrest and imprison Christian missionaries and witnesses
anywhere in the world who preach Jesus only. From now on, this
will be considered a hate crime - genocide.
According to Rush Limbaugh, Clinton has signed more Executive
Orders than any other president ever." Because of the threat
by the Muslim leaders, missionaries with the Sudan Interior Mission
in Somalia, circa 1973, used a strategy to stay legal and still
declare the Truth. Anyone wanting to know the Gospel had to sign
a card saying that they wanted to hear the message. .. The seeker
must ask..
(Mormingblend MSNBC 8.12.99) We were told that religion is good
for your health. They said that devout Mormons and Catholics have
a lower rate of cancer [Comment: Utah has unusually high incidents
of cancer], they live a longer life. No drinking, no smoking is
a good life style. The Tampa Tribune used a whole page to talk
about a 109-year-old and her good health due to spending her life
in full time ministry.

(The Tampa Tribune, 9.1.99) An animal rights group uses Jesus to get its message to the masses. A huge billboard - 48-foot was installed on Interstate 4, which claims that Jesus was a vegetarian, and to show respect for God's creatures. 40,000 people were expected to come to the National Baptist Convention to choose their new president. "If someone wants to make a case for vegetarianism, that's OK, but I wouldn't bring Jesus into it," said Richard McBrien, a professor of theology at the University of Notre Dame. The billboard cost over $4,000. [Comment: The slice of orange used as a halo and Mary's flaming heart, tells the real story. It was an opportunity to ridicule our Savior once again.]
(Fox News, 10.21.99) Catholics were told to participate and vote
from the heart advancing the common good. Get involved in politics.
Churches are welcoming political leaders. [Comment: Political
leaders could only be speaking in a church to get votes, which
is against IRS rules. Why is the news teaching us to break the
rules?]
WITCHCRAFT IS ABOUT TO BECOME REQUIRED READING IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS. (Fox News - 10.14.99)
ARE YOU READY FOR OPEN BORDERS BETWEEN CANADA AND MEXICO? THE NAFTA AGREEMENT CALLS FOR FREE TRADE BETWEEN THE THREE COUNTRIES beginning January 1, 2000. The trucking industry is very concerned with the foreign truck drivers who are going to come barreling down our highways untrained in US drivers education. Truckers also fear loss of jobs.
