Scientology Opponent Faces Battery Charge

TAMPA TRIBUNE, CLEARWATER, FL - January 15, 2000 - .. New Hampshire millionaire Robert S. Minton Jr. faces a maximum penalty of one in the county jail and $1,000 fine if convinced of striking Scientologist Richard W. Howd Jr. during a protest October 31. 1888 outside the church's spiritual headquarters in downtown Clearwater. Minton admitted under oath to striking Howed with a cardboard, foam placard. The judge concluded that both sides needed to be restrained in an ongoing dispute between the church and a group of anti-Scientology activists... Circuit Judge Penick Jr. concluded that "both parties must be mutually restrained" and ordered to stay at least 20 feet away from Minton.. meanwhile, Minton must stay at least 10 feet away from 17 church owned properties in downtown Clearwater.

Court Convicts Scientologists of Fraud in France

MIDNIGHT CALL, February 2000 - A French court found five members of the Church of Scientology guilty of fraud, a setback for the group's effort to become recognized in France as a religion, not a sect. A court in .. Marseille gave regional Scientology leader Xavier Delamare a two-year sentence (but suspended 18 months of it). It was the culmination of an inquiry that began in 1990 .. for alleged fraud, illegal practice of medicine and premeditated violence. The case grew out of complaints by a former Scientologist. The Scientologists were accused of allegedly accepting money for sham "purification" treatments that included going to a sauna, running races and being given massive doses of vitamins that landed about a dozen participants in psychiatric hospitals between 1987 and 1990, according to the original indictment. The treatment proposed by the Scientologists cost between $2,000 and $25,000. In France, the Church of Scientology is registered on a list of 173 groups to be tracked to prevent cult activity.. What Do Jay Gary And Scientology Have In Common?

WATCHING A&E, November 11, 1999 - ON SCIENTOLOGY, I NOTICED THEIR FLAG: A WHITE PENTAGRAM ON BLUE BACKGROUND GARNISHED WITH ACACIA BRANCHES, A SYMBOL OF ETERNAL LIFE AND PEACE. The symbol on the flag WAS THE SAME AS JAY GARY'S SYMBOLISM IN HIS LITERATURE. Scientologists also use two triangles interconnected within their Logo which is a form of the star of David upside down.

Billy Graham's Christmas Message - The Cat Is Out Of The Bag

NEW YORK - 12.25.1999 - EXCERPTS: After a lengthy dissertation about technological wizardry, the quest for salvation, WWII and a deeper sense of sin, secularization of schools and the moral decline of our youth, that the way out is repentance of our sin and faith in God, "THE SAME WAY THAT MR. CLINTON SAYS HE HAS TAKEN..."

"Other barriers have broken down. "THE ECUMENICAL MOVEMENT BEGAN TO BRING CHRISTIANS TOGETHER from different backgrounds and THEOLOGIES." The change in CATHOLIC ATTITUDES toward Protestants is "like night and day," he said. IF GRAHAM WERE TO PICK THE MAN OF THE CENTURY IT MIGHT BE POPE JOHN PAUL II. He "has brought the greatest impact of any pope in the last 200 years," Graham thinks. "I admire his courage, determination, intellectual abilities and his understanding of Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox differences, and the attempt at some form of reconciliation." [He brought up the improved relations with Jews.]

"LOOKING AT THE GLOBAL SCENE, GRAHAM SAYS ISLAM'S SPREAD IS ONE OF THE CENTURY'S MAJOR TRENDS. "There are things about Islam that appeal to people. Strict rules. People want discipline and some authority," he said. TECHNOLOGY HAS OPENED GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR FAITH, he said... (Tampa Tribune)

Catholic Priest Believes Farrakhan Is The Man To Bring Us Into Unity

THE TAMPA TRIBUNE, December 23, 1999 [excerpts] .. Farrakhan, who spoke for more than an hour, said doctors have told him his cancer is in remission. But he said his ulcer is only 85% healed and may require surgery before he is out of the woods. Farrakhan was surrounded by family members and several religious leaders. THE REV. MICHAEL PFLEGER, A ROMAN CATHOLIC PRIEST WHO IS WHITE, held hands with Farakhan and his wife, Khadijah, as he led the group in prayer. "I BELIEVE HE IS THE MAN WHO CAN BRING US TOGETHER.. AS CHRISTIANS, JEWS AND AS MUSLIMS," Pfleger said afterward.

Amikham B. Asiel, a rabbi in the black Hebrew Israelite community, said he was heartened by the minister's statement that divisions between the Nation of Islam and the Jewish community "must be overcome." - though the Hebrew Israelites have been known for making their own statements against white Jews. Addressing Farakhan's past statements, Asiel said, "I would prefer to take a more positive position and see where we go in the future."

Graham Has Doubts About Farrakhan

WASHINGTON - The Tampa Tribune January 3, 2000 - The Rev. Billy Graham says Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan is not the person to preach unity for all races and religions. Graham told Fox News Sunday that Farrakhan could not be the unifying figure he now says he wants to be.

"His views and my views will be very far apart, and it would be very difficult for us," Graham said, noting the Farrakhan had asked to meet with him. Criticized for making anti-white and anti-Semitic remarks in the past, Farrakhan said in December that his health problems have changed his outlook...

A 'Cynical' Alliance Louis Farrakhan And The Rabbies Of Natorei Karta

THE JERUSALEM REPORT, January 17, 2000 - After a period of quiet, Nation of Islam leader the Rev. Louis Farrakhan is again in contact with the Jewish community, although his most recent liaison has Jewish leaders scratching their heads in puzzlement. Farrakhan's latest move was advertised in a recent issue of "The Final Call," and NOI's house organ, with what must have been one of the strangest covers in its history: a photograph of Farrakhan flanked by seven hasidic rabbis. The rabbis, members of the anti Zionist Natorei Karta, had met with Farrakhan in Chicago in early November as a follow-up to a June meeting with his chief of staff, Leonard Muhammad. [The meeting was about 13 jailed Jews in Iran]... The meeting came after a long period in which Farrakhan made few attempts to reach out to the Jewish community, most of whose organizations refuse contact with him.."

Reinhard Bonnke Returns To Nigeria

CHARISMA MAGAZINE, December 1999 - The German evangelist returned after an eight-year ban due to the death of 14 people on opening night.. The deaths occurred when the crowd stampeded in an effort to touch Bonnke. Total attendance at the crusade was 1.9 million, one single crowd numbered 500,000.

Germany Hour Of Prayer For Moslems, Buddhists, Hindus, Bahai, Jews and Christians

A united prayer hour for peace was held by Moslems, Buddhists, Hindus, Bahai, Jews, Evangelicals and Catholics recently, sponsored by the World Conference for Religions and Peace (WCRP). The often-quoted motto of the church "Christians are the salt of the Earth," said Chairman Elrich Borngen, is applicable to all religions of the world. Each representative is understood to know that there is only one God and every human being will one day be made accountable before Him. It was emphasized that a one united religion is not the aim; absolute acceptance of monopoly of any religion should be eliminated. .. Hope for perfect unity of all religions to create a society in full harmony was expressed in prayer by the national secretary of the BAHAI faith in Germany. All Dressed Up And No Place To Go !
by Donna Meier

DISCERNMENT, July/ August 1999 - ".. There is an urgency! The earth must be "purged" of all who will not cooperate with the Global thinking. On the "religious" side, the agenda is to "forfeit" those who will not cooperate with "acceptable" and "politically correct" religions. The uncooperative are thought to "hinder" the preparation of the earth for the coming of Christ... not our Lord Jesus Christ... but the "manifest Sons of God.".. Resistance to being united will result in a necessary "purging" or "removal" from earth.. thus the teaching on Joel's Army (taken from Joel 2&3) which many believed is being raised up.

The Dominion / Kingdom Now beliefs include helping God, through judging the earth and ridding it of what they deem to be evil (which could include those who hinder unity). Those in this belief system believe that they will unite the churches so that there is a One City Church in every City united to stand and "reconstruct" society and dominate every area of the World. Prayer networks have been hooked into this thinking. They are taking strategic positions in the heavenlies to bring down named principalities so that today's Intercessors are the ones putting Satan under their feet.

Global Organizations will not Tolerate Bible Believing Christians. A world religion is being set up to worship "GAIA" - a feminine deity. A document entitled, "Global 2000 Revisited: What Shall We Do?" there [was] an invitation for heads of state and religious leaders to convene in Thingvelier, Iceland on January 1, 2000. At this meeting they are to meet before a stone altar and present handwritten covenants pledging loyalty to GAIA. (Gaia is considered to be the breathing Earth and must be honored and worshiped)

Parliament of World Religions. A keynote address as the last Parliament of World Religions, Gerald Barney said that, RELIGION MUST DIE. It is the fundamental cause of virtually all social, economic and ecological problems and much of the violence of the world.. As soon as we humans learn to think like Earth, we together will see a new future for Earth...

Persecution From Within? The following information is unsettling as it reveals the condemnation of Christians and churches who believe in the veracity of Scripture. They are held in contempt by those who are hoping to establish a Kingdom here on the earth.

"According to John Whitehead, belief in the rapture is like having a death wish and is the type of escapism similar to the escapism non-Christians seek in drugs, sex and entertainment. Whitehead is president of the Rutherford Institute, an organization of conservative attorneys who primarily defend the First Amendment rights and religious liberties of Christians. Whitehead believes that the same despair experienced by vain pursuits of secularists is experienced by those who believe in the rapture. He says "With evangelicals escapism centers on fantasizing about such things as the rapture. When it becomes clear that these do not provide fulfillment, despair sets in. Suicide and the like increase. Meanwhile many pastors prophesy doom while misguided souls sit entombed in churches waiting for the tide to roll over them. A general pessimism (or death wish) permeates every aspect of culture. Who wants to live in a world that has no future?".. (CIB Bulletin)

".. The Third Millennium is thought to be humanities last chance to start over. FOR THE MISLEAD Christians it is a chance to help cleanse the earth.. Many of the "New Breed of Prophets" say that Jesus will return in quite a different way than believed in traditional Christianity. He will "INCARNATE" Himself in humanity rather than come as a physical King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

"As born-again, Bible-believing Christians, we are facing possible life-changing decisions. Our comfort is that God will guide each one as we see the "Day approaching." Pray for discernment so that you will not be misled by what sounds and feels good. THERE APPEARS TO BE NO PROVISION FOR US TO EXIST ACCORDING TO THE REST OF WORLD AS THEY PLAN FOR THE YEAR 2000. (Donna & Ron Meier , former Assemblies of God pastors for 38 years in the Pacific Northwest.)

There seems to be no way to abide in the Scriptures which call for us to submit to our government. Hallo Rapture.. It has to be coming any day.. !!

If you are truly following Jesus, we would not have been invited to the New Years Party down here. You are invited to the wedding up yonder.. hallelujah..

Deadly Disease Takes Toll On Catholic Priests

THE TAMPA TRIBUNE, January 30, 2000 [Front Page] - The Rev. Dennis Rausch, a priest with AIDS, celebrates Mass at St. Maurice Catholic Church in Fort Lauderdale as deacon Ron Gouthro looks on. "Sexuality still needs to be talked about and dealt with, says Rausch, who runs an AIDS ministry program for Catholic Charities in the Archdiocese of Miami... The deaths [across the U.S. of Catholic priests at a much higher rate than of the general population] are of such concern to the church that most dioceses and religious orders now require applicants for the priesthood to take an HIV-antibody test before ordination... [In a nationwide confidential survey] Most priests.. said the church failed to offer an early and effective sexual education that might have prevented infection in the first place. Two-thirds said sexuality was not addressed at all or was not discussed adequately in seminary. Three out of four said the church needed to offer more education about sexual issues.

Rev. Dennis Rausch gives communion to parishioners in Fort Lauderdale. Rausch who has AIDS, is among hundreds of Catholic priests living with HIV... [The priests] argue that the 12th century doctrine about the virtues of celibacy have contributed to the spread of AIDS with the clergy... Breaking of celibacy vows .. has scared priests into silence.. "How to be celibate and to be gay at the same time, and how to be celibate and heterosexual at the same time, that's what we were never really taught how to do. And that was a major failing." ..

The Vatican has no policy on dealing with priests who have AIDS... Many of those who have died kept their illnesses a secret. Their death certificates never mentioned AIDS but related illnesses. Other certificates were falsified. [27% responded to the survey and nearly 60% said they knew at least one priest who had died of AIDS and one in three said they knew priests who were living with HIV or AIDS.

"Gays are in the priesthood and not all of them are celibate," said a former Jesuit priest Robert Goss. Goss left the priesthood after 11 years when he fell in love with a seminarian.. he died of AIDS in 1992.

In early 1990s, experts who counseled and treated priests with AIDS estimated that about 200 in the U.S. either had died of AIDS or had contracted the disease. Now, those who work with infected priests say the numbers are higher... The Kansas City Star alone - through death certificates and interviews with priests and family members - found .. about 100 priests who had died of AIDS nationwide since the mid-1980s... Medical experts now agree to 300 priests.. A.W. Richard Sipe, a former priest who has spent more than 30 years studying sexuality issues in the church, thinks that about 750 priests have died of AIDS related illnesses.

Joseph Barone puts the number as high as 1,000. He set up an underground AIDS testing program for students at North American College in Rome. Over seven years, he tested dozens of seminarians. Of those he worked with, he said, 1 in 12 tested HIV-positive. By the time Barone left Rome, he had treated about 80 priests with AIDS. Most of them were gay, he said, and contracted the disease through sexual activity.

Another researcher, Rev. Crangle, a Franciscan priest in the Capuchin order in Pasaic, N.J. conducted a mail survey. Of 500 surveys, 398 were returned. About 45% of the responses volunteered that they were gay, and 92 - nearly one fourth - said they had AIDS.

Catholic Rev. Leonard Plazewski, of Tampa said that the testing has been going on for 10 years and that the subject of sexuality is addressed in seminary. He said: "If celibacy is a problem, it's an external sign that God is not calling you to priesthood. What we concentrate on is living a celibate, chaste life. By the time they've been ordained, that's a decision that should already have been made."
